  Slipbushinglocatedinrear 

  mountingfootmustbesecurely

  tightenedagainstalternator

  mountingbracketonengine.

  Failuretodosocanresultin

  brokenmountingfeetorbroken

  uppermountingbracket.

 a. Usehardenedwashersbetweenaluminum

 surfacesandboltheadsandnuts.

 b. OEMunitsareshippedwithpulley,flat

 washer,andlocknutinstalled.

 c. Aftermarketunitsareshippedwithshaft

 collar,flatwasher,andlocknutinstalled.

 Removeanddiscardshaftcollar.Install

 pulleyandfurnishedflatwasher.Torque

 locknutto163Nm/120lb.ft.

 d. Followvehiclemanufacturer’s  

 recommendationsforbelttension.

within305mm/12in.ofterminationonalternator.

3. Choosewiregaugecapableofhandlingmaximum

alternatoroutputwithnomorethan0.4Vdrop

oneachlegfromalternatortobattery.

4. A2-216regulatorisfurnishedonOEMunitsand

issuppliedseparatelybyrequestwithaftermarket

units.

5. MakeelectricalconnectionstoCENregulatoras

required,usingproperringterminals:

 a. Makesurealternator-to-regulatorharnessis

 pluggedsecurelyinregulatorreceptacle.

 b. A2-216regulatorhasD+terminalwithM6

 studandanIGNterminalwithanM5stud.

 Torqueterminalnutsto4.5Nm/40lb.in.

 • D+terminalcanprovide28VDCsense

  voltagetomultiplexcontroller.Maximum

  currentfromD+canbenomorethan

  5amps.Whenrequired,connectD+

  terminaltocontrollerthrougharelay.

  Therelaycoilmustbediodeprotected

  andratedforpropervoltage.

Torque mounting

hardware to

88 Nm/65 lb. ft.

Slip bushing in rear mounting foot

must be tightened against bracket —

see “CAUTION” above

0.3750-16 UNC-2B top mounting:

Threaded insert, self-locking

#10-32 regulator mounting screw,

lock washer, and at washer

(2 places) –

torque to 3.4 Nm/30 lb. in.

0.2500-28 UNF-2A regulator mounting screw

and lock washer on top of regulator mounting

foot; spacer between regulator mounting foot

and alternator – torque to 8.5 Nm/75 lb. in.
